Personal Training in East Vancouver | Coast Athletics

Looking for a personal trainer in East Vancouver? Having a hard time finding a gym that actually fits your needs and doesn't make you feel like just another membership number?

At Coast Athletics, I try to keep things simple, with real strength training, real progress, and a gym where you actually want to show up. No fighting for equipment, no crazy big box gym chaos at peak hours, just a clean, private personal training studio in East Vancouver. Here you can get stronger, move better, and feel confident in what you’re doing.

My goal isn’t to run a “big box corporate gym.” It’s to give people coaching that actually works for their lifestyle, with busy schedules, work stress, injuries, whatever you’ve got going on, going to the gym shouldn’t add to this stress. Most clients come in wanting to build strength, fix nagging aches, move with more confidence, or just feel good in their bodies again. You don’t need to be an athlete. You just need to be ready to start.

And honestly? That’s where good coaching makes the biggest difference.

Why should you choose Coast Athletics for your East Vancouver Personal Training needs?

Group class in a private east vancouver personal training gym

A private, focused environment.

This isn’t a packed gym where you're dodging people doing curls in the squat rack or asking a guy on a machine “how many sets do you have left?”  as he scrolls on instagram. It’s a private studio in East Vancouver where sessions are planned around you, whatever your pace, your needs, and whatever your goals are. Just a space that lets you focus and learn without distractions.

Coaching that adapts to you, not the other way around.

Not everyone moves the same way or responds the same way to training. I build your program based on how your body works: mobility, strength, experience level, past injuries, work demands, even how you slept that week. The goal is to keep you progressing without beating up your joints or pushing through pain just to “grind.” Training should make your life better, not make you feel broken.

Sessions built around skill + strength

You’ll lift, learn, and move with purpose. Think of it as structured strength training with enough variation to keep it fun and enough progression to keep you improving. No random workouts. No guessing. Just consistent steps forward.

Close to everything, but not in the chaos of downtown.

The east Vancouver gym is located at 1356 East Frances Street in East Vancouver, tucked right between Commercial Drive and the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood. You’re steps from:

  • Commercial Drive shops and cafés (our favourites are Timbertrain and Doe)

  • East Van breweries for post-workout treats

  • Easy access from 1st Ave, Clark St, Commercial Drive and Hastings for commuting from anywhere in East Van.

It’s central, easy to get to, and low-traffic enough that parking generally never turns into a battle.

What Training Looks Like Here

Strength Training That Actually Builds You Up

Most clients start with the goal of getting stronger. Whether that means lifting heavier, building muscle, or just feeling stable and powerful in everyday life. Every phase is planned around what your body needs, and you’ll learn proper technique in every movement. You’ll also learn how to train smarter, not just harder. The goal is to get stronger and stay pain-free.

Mobility + Movement Quality

If you sit at a desk, bike, ski, run, lift, or just exist as a human being, tight hips, stiff backs, or cranky shoulders happen. We build mobility directly into your program. Not generic stretching, but targeted mobility that helps you move better and keep progressing without hitting plateaus. You’ll feel the difference in how you move day to day, not just in the gym.

Personal Training for Skiers, Riders, and Mountain Athletes

Because we’re in Vancouver, a lot of clients train to enjoy what our backyard has to offer. From skiing harder, biking longer, and staying injury-free through the season. We mix strength, power, and stability work to build the right type of “mountain..or sea legs” and keep your body durable for the long run. Think: stronger turns, better balance, fewer mid-season tweaks.

Injury-Aware, Pain-Smart Coaching

You don’t need to be “perfectly healthy” to train here. A lot of clients come in with lower-back issues, shoulder restrictions, or old sports injuries. We adjust as needed, modify movements, and build strength in ways that keep you improving without flaring things up. The priority is long-term progress, not pushing through pain and quick fixes.

How Your Coaching Plan Works

1. Goal Setting and Movement Assessment

We start with a simple movement and strength assessment so I can see how you move, identify any limitations, and understand what you want out of training. This isn’t a test, it’s just a baseline to build your plan around.

2. Your Customized Training Program

You’ll get a program tailored to your goals, schedule, and current level. Every block is structured so you always know what you’re working toward and why. This keeps things consistent, progressive, and effective.

3. Training Sessions With Real Guidance

During our sessions, coaching is hands-on and detailed. I’m checking form, explaining adjustments, and teaching you how to understand your own body better. You’ll always know how to do something and what the purpose is not just because “it looks cool on instagram.”

4. Tracking, Check-Ins, and Long-Term Progress.

We adjust things as needed, based on how you’re responding, recovering, and progressing. The program evolves as you get stronger, move better, and build confidence. The end goal is sustainable strength not burnout.

Who This Type of Training Is For

You’ll fit in perfectly if you’re someone who:

  • Wants a private, quieter environment to train

  • Prefers structure and coaching instead of guessing what to do

  • Likes learning proper form and progressing with purpose

  • Enjoys strength training but wants guidance

  • Has tried big gyms before and didn’t love the experience

  • Is coming back from a layoff, injury, or long break

  • Wants to feel stronger, more mobile, and more capable in daily life

You don’t need to be an athlete. You don’t need to already be fit. You just need to be ready to start.
